The star on the very first cards I produced is called Vlad. He stayed with us for just a few weeks (it was so difficult handing him back). He is an incredibly sweet, beautiful, gentle soul. Although Vlad was shy, whenever he saw me he would stand up on his back legs, hoping I had a treat (which was often the case!). Vlad was at Konijnenparadijs during 2022, his guardians handed him to the sanctuary when his partner had passed away - he needed a new partner and they didn't want to commit to taking in another rabbit.

 

It was during 2022 when in just one day alone, Konijnenparadijs took in 131 rabbits from a hoarder, many of which were in bad health, some close to death. The sanctuary is funded by donations, so to help, it was decided I paint Vlad's portrait in order to raise some funds. Vlad's portrait appeared on a limited edition of 1,000 Christmas cards, all of which sold out within a few days. It was this very special bunny, Vlad, that inspired more paintings, to raise more funds for Konijnenparadijs and other sanctuaries.
